In the past two decades architects have increasingly adopted CNC fabrication technologies common in other manufacturing sectors like the aerospace and automotive industries, and more recently this has rapidly expanded to include industrial robots. This talk will discuss how the growing accessibility of industrial robotic tools is changing the way designers and architects think about fabrication technologies and construction, as well as fueling new modes of collaboration between designers, architects and engineers. Several recent digital fabrication projects conducted in the Taubman College robotics lab will be discussed. |
